What is Veterinary Physiotherapy?
Just like humans, animals benefit from physiotherapy. At Amy Powell Veterinary Physiotherapy, we are qualified, insured, and mobile specialists in equine and canine rehabilitation and performance.
Our drug-free treatments focus on muscular, skeletal, and nerve injuries/conditions, helping to improve mobility, function, performance, and quality of life—whether at home or in the yard.
We take a preventative approach, aiming to reduce injury and disease risks while educating owners on their animal’s health, well-being, and behavior. We believe in prevention over cure for long-term health and happiness.
How can Veterinary Physiotherapy help?
Whether for competition animals or companions, veterinary physiotherapy plays a key role in both treatment and prevention of various conditions, including:
- Tendon & ligament injuries
- Muscle asymmetry
- Back pain & lameness
- Wound management
- Nerve paralysis
- Post-surgery rehabilitation
- Pre & post-competition treatments
- Compensatory issues from conditions like laminitis, kissing spines, poor gait patterns, and ill-fitting saddles or harnesses.
Physiotherapy supports recovery, mobility, and overall well-being, helping animals stay healthy and perform at their best.
Preventative care and peak performance -
Even without injury or disease, routine physiotherapy helps with early detection and treatment, ensuring your animal stays in optimal health and peak performance.
- Mobility & Lameness Issues – Helps with stiffness, reduced movement, and limping.
- Performance Enhancement – Addresses issues like knocking poles, missed contacts, misjudged distances, and slow recovery post-exercise.
- Injury & Condition Management – Supports osteoarthritis, cruciate ligament damage, musculoskeletal injuries, hip/elbow dysplasia, luxating patella, fractures, amputations, and femoral head & neck incisions.
- Fitness & Conditioning – Improves strength, endurance, and overall fitness.

- Neurological Conditions – Helps manage lumbosacral disease, IVDD, degenerative myelopathy (DM), and fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE).
